I Quit My Dream Job

It’s real.

Tomorrow marks my last day working at (what I thought was) my dream job.

I suppose I’ve got a bit of explaining to do, eh?

Bottom-line, what we’ve got here is a standard case of “it’s not you, it’s me” syndrome. The relationship just isn’t working out. Things shouldn’t be this way though. Being employed at a great agency, with a great team, working on some great clients, I should be feeling happy, content and grateful (which I am). But the truth is, I’m not feeling self-satisfied and that’s because my definition of success has changed.

And there’s nothing I can do about it – except for chase it, and achieve it again.

They say that you should put your money where your mouth is, so I’m betting the farm on this one.

Entrepreneurship is my passion and my hobby. It’s my art. If you do what you love, you’ll always succeed. If you have the drive, the motivation and the cojones, you will always find a way.

I’m an entrepreneur and I’m willing to accept all of the risks, responsibilities and rewards that come with the privilege of calling myself that.

People should do what makes them happy.

In fact, people need to do what makes them happy.

This is my shot at happiness.

Thanks in advance for your support. I’ll be taking on a small number of clients with whom I’ll be working with very closely. If you know of a business or agency that might be a good fit, have them give me a holler.

Good job Kareem, I’m happy to see you chase what matters! I couldn’t agree more…

Good luck, Kareem! Hope you enjoy taking your shot at happiness. My educated guess is that you’ll be great. Besides, all of those books by “superstar” entrepreneurs and marketing guys don’t talk about how they found success taking the safe route. Way to go big or go home, brotha.
