Facebook Friendship Challenge

Today I logged into Facebook and saw that I have over 1000 friends.

I have met most of these people at least once in my life. I’ve probably had a conversation with a healthy chunk of them. Some of these friends I haven’t spoken to in years, some I talk to on a daily basis.

I’ve decided that I am going to randomly Facebook message one of these friends everyday for the next 3 months in an attempt to rekindle these lost relationships. I’ll start the conversations off with a simple “Hey, long time no talk. What have you been up to?”

My goals for this are to genuinely catch up with people that I, at one point or another, cared for. I also hope to expand my network, maybe generate some new opportunities to share work or collaborate on something creative.

You never really know who’s the next to go.

You make a great point, Kareem. This is like the social equivalent of going through the Rolodex to touch base with the people in your life. I might just do the same – either with Facebook or LinkedIn. Great idea!
